Pat Huffman is on a mission to help people that suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a mental health condition that is triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. An avid runner and Marine, Pat has won many awards for her hard work in helping others and raised thousands of dollars promoting PTSD awareness by organizing races and other fundraising events. She has become an advocate for all people who suffer from PTSD.
Pat’s hard work and dedication to help spread understanding of this condition came to us this past month. She organized an online campaign to help raise money for the Therapeutic & Recreational Riding Center that helps people with PTSD and other conditions through therapeutic horse riding. Her campaign was a t-shirt sale and a virtual race, which is a race where an individual pledges money and runs or walks a designated distance on their own. This type of race is ideal of for people with PTSD, as some may not be comfortable with interacting in crowds or in public places. Pat also suffers from PTSD, and knows how important factors like this can be for a person who is recovering.
We’re so proud of Pat and the work she’s doing to help spread awareness and help heal those who suffer from PTSD!
